HOW IT WORKS

Taking Part Is Easy

Choose a Day

Pick any date that works for your calendar. We recommend a Friday for maximum energy.

Wear Colour

Students and staff come to school in their brightest clothes, accessories, or a touch of sparkle. Collect a €2 suggested donation from each student on the day.

Raise Hope

Every euro raised funds free bereavement counselling for a child in Ireland who has lost a parent. By taking part, your school helps ensure that no child faces that loss alone.

YOUR SUPPORT MAKES A DIFFERENCE

Grief can affect every part of a young person's life. Access to professional support at the right time can make a huge difference to emotional wellbeing, confidence and healing.

WHY THIS MATTERS IN YOUR SCHOOL

Raise Awareness

Statistically, in every school in Ireland there are children who have experienced the death of a parent. Many are not receiving any professional support.

By taking part in Hope Day, your school does two things at once; it raises vital funds for bereavement counselling, and it opens up a conversation about grief and loss that many children desperately need.

If you are aware of a child in your school who has lost a parent and may benefit from support, please contact us directly.

Tire Swing

It is estimated that up to

60,000

children in Ireland have lost a parent by the time they turn 18.

Children whose mother or father has died are are around

1.5X

more likely to be diagnosed with a mental health disorder than their peers.

Without professional support, up to

44%

of children develop symptoms of anxiety and depression after a parent's death.
