We were deeply moved to receive this beautiful poem, "Where Hope Lives," written for the Stephen Moylan Foundation by Cian Hall Quinn of A Lil Bit of Poetry.
Cian is a published poet, advocate and volunteer from Dublin. He is a fellow recipient of the 2026 Lord Mayor's Award for his powerful advocacy for autistic youth and his work deepening autism acceptance, and is the author of the poetry collection A Lil Bit of Poetry.
We are so grateful that Cian chose to put his talent to use for our cause, capturing in verse exactly what our foundation strives for: turning one family's loss into hope and support for so many others.
"Where Hope Lives" by Cian Hall Quinn
From a family's loss, a light was born,
from sorrow came a way
to help a child through darkest nights
and gently greet the day
For when a parent leaves too soon,
the world can lose its way
the home, the friends they know
can all feel strange that day.
With specialist care and patient hearts,
with someone there to hear,
a child can slowly learn to live
with loss, and not just fear
What started out in Dublin,
with Stephens memory in many hearts,
but what began within one home
has travelled many parts.
Across Ireland, children now
have found a helping hand
a little hope, a little strength,
a place to understand
From one family's deepest loss,
a brighter path has grown
from Stephen's memory,
hope now reaches families not there own.
And that is where the hope lives
in every child they meet,
in every tear that finds a voice,
in every heart made less alone
It forever lives in Stephen's memory in the love that carries on,
in every child who finds their way from darkness towards the dawn.
